Hunger Buster Braai Buns

Stack them, wrap them, grab your PotjieKing and go! The perfect ‘prep at home’ snack
for a day out and about.



Bread rolls (I used paninis)
Cold meat selection (ham, roast beef etc)
Cheese (stacking with 2 different types is really tasty)
Spring onions


Note: You can use whatever you like! There is an endless combination of delicious toppings to suit every taste.
The best thing about these is that you can stuff them REALLY full and not worry about losing
your fillings in the fire.


Hunger Buster Braai Buns – Method

Pack 12  briquettes onto the coal grid inside your PotjieKing. Put a couple of firelighters in the bottom section and get that going. Place your braai grid on to your PotjieKing.

  • Slice open your buns and butter them.
  • Finely slice the spring onion and grate your cheese.
  • Stack your layers. The more layers the better in my opinion!
  • Wrap your buns in tin foil.
  • Place your buns on the PotjieKing and turn frequently.
  • Braai until the buns start to crisp and brown and the cheese has melted – you can sneak a peek by unwrapping a bun just enough to check if your cheese is melted.
  • Remove from the PotjieKing, unwrap and enjoy!
